What is a Threat & Vulnerability Assessment?



It’s a comprehensive 360° evaluation of your organization’s safety and security measures. We examine physical security (locks, cameras, access control, etc.), digital security (network safety, communication systems), and procedural readiness (emergency plans, drills, training). The goal is to identify any weaknesses or gaps that could put people or assets at risk, and provide prioritized recommendations to strengthen those areas.

Our school already has security measures in place – why do we need an outside assessment?



Even with good measures in place, critical gaps can persist. An objective, expert assessment can uncover issues that internal teams might overlook. In fact, many schools – over 70% – have unaddressed physical security vulnerabilities. Our fresh perspective and specialized experience often reveal dozens of common safety weaknesses that were previously missed. By finding and fixing these issues, you significantly reduce the chance of an incident and ensure all your protections work together effectively.

Will the assessment disrupt our operations or classes?



We work around your schedule to minimize disruption. Our team can conduct site visits during off-peak hours or school breaks when possible. When we must observe during operating hours, we do so unobtrusively. A typical campus assessment is completed in a matter of days, and we coordinate closely with administrators to avoid interfering with classes, services, or events. Your normal routine can continue safely while we work.

What happens after you finish the assessment?



You will receive a detailed report outlining all findings. This report includes a list of identified vulnerabilities and clear, prioritized recommendations for how to address each one. We will review the results with you in person (or via video conference) to ensure you fully understand everything. Importantly, our support doesn’t end with the report – we remain available to help you implement the improvements (see next question) and answer any questions along the way.

Do you help us implement the recommended fixes?



Yes. We don’t just hand you a report and walk away. Our philosophy is to partner with you through remediation. That means we can assist in developing an implementation plan, connect you with trusted solution providers, or even manage certain upgrades directly if needed. We prioritize the recommendations based on impact and cost, so you can tackle the most critical issues first. By guiding you through the remediation process and then verifying that improvements are effective, we ensure the assessment delivers real results, not just paperwork.

Will the assessment disrupt our operations or classes?



How does verification work?



Verification is about accountability and peace of mind. After you’ve made improvements, we check that each vulnerability has been properly addressed – this might involve follow-up site visits, reviewing photos or proof of fixes, and testing new systems. We use tools like checklists and even visual evidence (for example, updated floorplans or 3D maps) to provide proof of closure for each issue. This step is included in every assessment project, so you know nothing has been left undone.

How often should we repeat a Threat & Vulnerability Assessment?



We recommend reviewing your safety posture regularly. For a school or church, an assessment every 1-2 years is a good practice, or whenever you experience major changes (like renovations, new buildings, or significant staff turnover). For one-time events, each event should undergo its own assessment and planning cycle. Regular assessments ensure that as threats evolve or your organization grows, your safety measures keep up to date. Think of it as a routine check-up – it’s far better to catch and fix small issues before they become big problems.

Will you train our staff or students in safety procedures?



Absolutely. A strong safety plan isn’t effective unless people know how to carry it out. As part of our assessment service, we can provide training and drills for staff (and students, where appropriate) on new protocols or emergency responses. We often conduct walkthroughs with your team to physically demonstrate best practices. Who conducts the assessment?



Your assessment will be conducted by VTS’s team of seasoned safety professionals. Our assessors have backgrounds in law enforcement, security, emergency management, and related fields. They bring years of experience identifying threats and designing practical safety improvements. You will have a dedicated lead assessor as your point of contact, supported by specialists (for example, cybersecurity or structural safety experts as needed).

What is the process for booking security services?



To book our services, you need to contact us with your security requirements and event details. We will discuss your needs, finalize the service plan, and schedule the required personnel.

Can I request a specific security officer?



Yes, if you have a preference or a specific request, we will do our best to accommodate it. However, availability will depend on the scheduling and our current personnel.

How far in advance should I book security services?



We recommend booking as early as possible to ensure availability, especially for high-demand dates or large-scale events. Ideally, at least 2-4 weeks in advance.

What happens if I need to cancel or reschedule my security service?



If you need to cancel or reschedule, please notify us as soon as possible. We have a cancellation and rescheduling policy that may involve fees depending on the timing and circumstances.
